Summer Music 2020: Concert 6

Benjamin Britten Performed with Panache: Young Artists at Bell Street Gallery

Summer 2020 with Madeline Island Chamber Music Continues

Our campus is closed, but the music continues during summer 2020 with Madeline Island Chamber Music! We’re pleased to bring you this series of highlights from the Madeline Island Chamber Music concert archives.

In summer 2018, PBS Wisconsin filmed a 60-minute special, “Music From Madeline Island,” about our summer program. The filmmakers captured one of our signature events: Friday Happy Hour Concerts at Bell Street Gallery. At these popular informal concerts, our student quartets perform surrounded by pottery and paintings in this creative outdoor venue.

Please enjoy this 4-minute performance of the last movement of Benjamin Britten’s String Quartet No. 1, performed with panache by our Fellowship Quartet at Bell Street Gallery.

Britten String Quartet No. 1, Molto vivace”

Performed in June 2018 at Bell Street Gallery, Madeline Island

Adam Woodward, violin
Charles Andrew Dunlap, violin
Austin Simmons, viola
Mario Bastea-Forte, cello

Stay tuned for the upcoming performance by Brooklyn Rider of Caroline Shaw’s “Schisma,” commissioned by Madeline Island Chamber Music.

Although our season is cancelled due to COVID-19, our work continues. Please contribute now to ensure the music resumes in summer 2021.
