Summer Music 2020: Concert 5

Take a Musical Tour Around the World

Arianna String Quartet Performs “Great Places”

Although our stage is dark, the music continues during summer 2020 with Madeline Island Chamber Music! We’re pleased to bring you this series of highlights from the Madeline Island Chamber Music concert archives.

Do you miss traveling? Swiss American composer Daniel Schnyder’s String Quartet No. 4, “Great Places,” may help satisfy your travel desires. In summer 2019, Arianna String Quartet performed this jazz-oriented quartet that captures the flavors of cities around the world and through time. The five-movement suite opens with Shanghai 1928, followed by Havana 1952, Paris 1901, Casablanca 1933, and concluding with New York 1946. As the composer himself says, “I wish you all the best for this short, exotic trip, and much fun and pleasure from this story. This trip is not available from any other travel agency.”

Please enjoy this 15-minute performance by Arianna String Quartet of Daniel Schnyder’s “Great Places.”
