Mission Statement
Madeline Island Chamber Music, a nonprofit educational corporation, provides chamber music training and performance for talented young musicians in a structured, residential environment.
Note from the Artistic Director
Madeline Island Chamber Music has a rich history and stands today as one of the most illustrious places for chamber music study. Our program has grown over the years, developing and refining curriculum to remain at the forefront in educating today’s young musicians. Our concentration on chamber music provides the opportunity to learn and cultivate skills that not only make artistic leaders, but also create a new generation of young professionals exemplifying many of the most desirable characteristics for today’s workforce – creativity, leadership, responsibility, discipline, an ability to problem solve, a spirit of collaboration, and a sense of community.
Nestled in the woods of historic Madeline Island, our setting is conducive to exploration and growth. Our facilities embody a sense of retreat, inspired by nature, but with modern amenities that enable a focused working environment. Students come to our program from all across the nation and abroad, and end up forming lifelong friendships that transcend summer study.
Our faculty represent the highest level of teaching and performing in the profession. Their commitment to their craft and passion for music making is only surpassed by their dedication to our students. Our community provides opportunities for student and faculty interaction outside of individual instruction. This enables mentorship relationships that often continue beyond Madeline Island.
The Artist Residency is an extension of our summer program, engaging selected students in performance and teaching opportunities throughout the year. It is a bridge to professional life, providing real-world experience under our guidance.
Madeline Island Chamber Music is dedicated to educating and nurturing young musicians, as well as enriching the communities in which we live. I invite you to become a part of our program!
